SCA UpStream 2.0

The quest to solve all problems before they happen.

Supply Chain Alliance celebrates the successful pitch of Upstream 2.0 presented by BIHRM Supply Chain. The nationwide event made its debut on 6th February 2023, with partnerships from Ostad (Tech partner), Prothom Alo (Associate partner), Nutri+, Offer Koi, Radio Carnival, and Mealtor joining them in collaboration.

Teams consisting of three members went through three rounds of challenges; the first two rounds were conducted online, and the finalists were confronted to present their ideas to the judging panel. The club’s first-round session took place through its official Facebook page, where the speaker, Md. Shihabuzzaman, provided practical insights into supply chain management and case competitions. Out of 210 teams, 40 advanced to the next round. The second workshop, arranged for the qualifiers, was conducted by keynote speaker Rubia Siddiqua. She guided the participants in understanding the FMCG industry’s supply chain.

Among the finest to make it to the finale were Team Jynx, Team Moitree, Team Dire-wolves, Team Crimson Tides, Downstream, and Team Radion, showcasing their excellence in the limelight of the finals. All the teams brought their absolute A-game, making the evaluation process much more intriguing. Out of the top six teams, Team Moitree from Dhaka University came in first runner-up, followed by the Dire Wolves, also from Dhaka University, as the second runner-up. The crowning champion of Upstream 2.0 was Team Downstream from the Institution of Business Administration, Dhaka University.

The final battleground, Abdullah Farooq Multipurpose Hall, Faculty of Business Studies, University of Dhaka, was adorned by brilliant personalities who made up the judging panel. The club expressed its deepest gratitude and honor to the judges: Dr. Santus Kumar Deb, Professor, and Chairman of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management at the University of Dhaka, an incredible mentor; Mohammad Zia Uddin, Supply Director of Reckitt Bangladesh & Sri Lanka Cluster, a compassionate individual to Supply Chain Alliance; and finally, Sharfuddin Lisan, Programme Director of BIHRM Supply and IBM Supply Chain Automation Lead, for presenting such a humble address.

The finale would have been incomplete without the unwavering support and commendable insights of the two special guests from the EC Committee of BIHRM Supply Chain: Emdadul Haque, Sr. Manager, Commercial, Bashundhara Group, and Nayem Ahsan, Supply Chain Head of Ran Power. Upstream 2.0 marked another successful milestone for Supply Chain Alliance, as it provided a platform for students to create ventures for the multitude, aligning with the club’s mission.
